Baptist Prayers — Personal Faith, Biblical Authority
Baptists believe in the authority of Scripture, salvation through personal faith in Jesus Christ, and believer's baptism by immersion. These prayers reflect the passionate, Bible-centered faith of the Baptist tradition.
The Baptist Heart for Prayer
Baptists have always been people of prayer. From prayer meetings to altar calls, from personal quiet times to corporate worship, prayer is woven into the fabric of Baptist life. We believe every believer has direct access to God through Jesus Christ and the privilege of bringing our needs directly to the Father.
The Baptist tradition emphasizes personal conversion — a moment when an individual consciously places their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This personal relationship with God is nurtured through daily prayer and Bible reading.
Sinner's Prayer for Salvation
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me today. Help me to live for You the rest of my life. In Your name I pray, Amen.
Romans 10:9 — "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Prayer Before Baptism
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son Jesus Christ. Today I publicly declare my faith through baptism. Just as Jesus was buried and rose again, I am being buried with Him in this water and raised to walk in newness of life. I am not ashamed of the Gospel. Thank You for washing my sins away and making me a new creation. May my baptism be a testimony to all who witness it that Jesus Christ is Lord. In His precious name, Amen.
Romans 6:4 — "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Prayer for Revival
O Lord, send revival! Begin in my heart, Lord. Search me and know me. Try me and see if there is any wicked way in me. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Then, Lord, pour out Your Spirit on our church, our community, our nation. Convict the lost of their sin, draw them to the cross, and save them by Your grace. We need a move of God in our day. Let it begin with me. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
2 Chronicles 7:14 — "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Prayer for the Lost
Father, my heart breaks for those who do not yet know You. I lift up my family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers who are lost without Christ. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior. Soften their hearts to receive the Gospel. Send laborers across their path who will share Your love. Give me boldness to be a witness for You. Lord, I cannot save anyone — only You can do that. But use me as Your instrument to plant seeds and share Your truth. For it is not Your will that any should perish. In Jesus' name, Amen.
2 Peter 3:9 — "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
Prayer for Church Service
Lord, we gather in Your name today. We ask You to be present in this place. May our worship honor You. May the preaching of Your Word convict, encourage, and transform us. Open our ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. Unite our hearts in fellowship. If there are visitors here today, make them feel welcome and draw them to Yourself. And when we leave this place, send us out as ambassadors for Christ to share the Good News with a lost and dying world. For Your glory, Amen.
Matthew 18:20 — "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
Prayer for Daily Walk with Christ
Lord Jesus, I want to walk with You today. Order my steps according to Your Word. Help me to put on the whole armor of God so I can stand against the enemy's schemes. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your love flow through me to others. Guard my tongue from speaking anything that would dishonor You. Keep me from temptation, but if I stumble, pick me up and set my feet back on the path. I want to be faithful to You in all things — great and small. Until the day I see You face to face, help me to run this race with endurance. Amen.
Galatians 5:16 — "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."
