Prayer for Grief — Comfort when your heart is heavy
Grief can make each day feel long and quiet. This prayer is for moments when sorrow has no easy words and you simply need God near.
Prayer for Grief
Lord, my heart is hurting and I do not have the strength to carry this grief by myself. You know the ache I feel, the memories I cannot stop revisiting, and the questions I cannot answer. Stay close to me in this sorrow. Give me room to mourn honestly and hope to breathe again. Hold the people I love in Your mercy, and let Your peace meet me where words fail. Remind me that You are near to the brokenhearted and faithful in every season of loss. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Psalm 34:18 — "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
How prayer helps in grief
Prayer does not erase loss, but it gives sorrow a place to rest. In grief, prayer can be as simple as telling God the truth: “I miss them,” “I feel numb,” “I am tired,” or “I do not understand.” He is not threatened by honest lament. Scripture is full of prayers that speak plainly in pain.
